When Stories Collide: A Remarkable Meeting of Two Cardiac Arrest Survivors

In 2007, both Dale Wakasugi and John Dow survived sudden cardiac arrests—life-altering events that set them on separate but strikingly similar paths. Each committed to using their second chance at life to serve others—through CPR education, AED awareness, and community engagement.

For nearly two decades, they walked parallel roads—speaking at events, training others, and leaning into faith and family. But on August 2nd, 2025, those roads finally crossed in the most unexpected way.

Dale, working as a starter at Stone Ridge Golf Course in Stillwater, MN, greeted a player checking in for his tee time: John Dow. Within minutes, they discovered who the other was—and instantly connected over their shared history.

It was their first time meeting, and yet, it felt like the closing of a chapter they had unknowingly been writing together for years.
